Job OverviewThe Clinical Quality Improvement Analyst (CQIA) serves as a key resource to the Deaconess Clinic Quality Team. The CQIA is responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting on key quality and statistical data at Deaconess Clinic. The CQIA works closely with the Deaconess Clinic Administrative leaders to identify opportunities and improvement initiatives; monitors for such improvement; and makes recommendations based on his/her analysis. The output of the work is used for reporting to regulatory agencies, internal improvement projects, and other key quality initiatives including improving the Patient Experience. Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize a variety of complex duties to meet deadlines. This position requires a high degree of diplomacy and tact as they will be interacting with people at all organizational levels within the hospital and clinic settings as well as outside of the organization. A high level of factual dependability and accuracy will be required to be successful in this role.
Job DutiesGathers, compiles and analyzes basic statistical data from various systems for the creation of regular, periodic and ad hoc reports. Prepares written reports for presentations at all levels of the health system. Works closely with the System Quality Outcomes Performance Manager and Clinic Directors on project work which will lead to cost reduction, productivity monitoring and improvement and enhancement of the quality of services provided. Coordinates all activities associated with clinical quality measurement for clinical quality indicators including: chart review, data abstraction, report creating, committee report out and improvement team participation. Accurately abstracts and submits all data according to criteria set forth by regulatory agencies, payers, professional organizations, medical staff and administrative staff. Meets all deadlines for data submission as outlined by specific indicator or service line. Actively seeks ways to improve clinical quality data and participates in committee meetings, department meetings, care team meetings, or work groups to educate and improve quality outcomes. Coordinates with managers, directors, administrative team members, and physicians, coders, and staff members to ensure the accuracy of data, identify trends and improve clinical quality outcomes. Provides written and verbal reports for assigned clinical quality data to managers, directors, administrators, physicians, and committees as requested and/or as outlined in report parameters. Trains and advises staff, managers, and physicians regarding clinical quality measurement criteria, patient experience, and related evidence-based practices. Participates in orientation and education programs, care team meetings, and individual meetings to provide training or report results. Investigates and keeps current on evidence-based care, as well as quality improvement topics, tools and techniques. Ensures the confidentiality and security of patient and physician data gathered and stored electronically and on paper within the department. Examples of the support services provided by this role include, but are not limited to the facilitation of a comprehensive quality improvement education program, quality metric validation & data stewardship, implementation of improvement quality/patient satisfaction initiatives, observation & coaching, closing care gaps, suspect condition recapture rates, and facilitate operational reporting.
Education And ExperienceAssociate's Degree in Nursing or other health-care related field with at least five (5) years of related clinical experience. Previous quality assessment and/or quality improvement experience desired. Experience working within an ambulatory physician office setting is preferred.
