Starting Over on Sunshine Corner by Phoebe Mills is the third book of the contemporary romance The Sunshine Corner series. As with a lot of romance series the main characters do change in each new book of the series with the setting of The Sunshine Corner daycare being what ties the books together. With the characters changing the books can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so but there are glimpses of previous characters for those reading in order.

This time around in the Sunshine Corner series we have a friends to lovers story coming our way. Rebecca Hayes is a single mother who has all her focus on raising her child with dating being the last thing on her mind. Jackson Lowe has been Rebecca’s best friend forever but has never admitted to Rebecca that he’d like their relationship to be more. When on night things get a little heated between these friends they never expect it to turn into forever.

The Sunshine Corner series is one that I have been following from the beginning and always enjoy returning to this charming small town romance series. Once again I found myself enjoying the characters and getting to know their stories and love that we get glimpses of those from earlier stories as well. Also being a sucker when children are involved this one definitely kept my attention and kept the pages turning waiting to see how the story would turn out.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Available on February 7th.

My thoughts:
I really enjoyed reading Phoebe Mills' latest book. This is a heartwarming small town friends to lovers romance story. Rebecca is a single mom focused on her young daughter Sofia. Jackson is a laidback handsome guy who enjoys working in the family’s landscaping business. Rebecca and Jackson have been friends for years.

Jackson realizes he may have an opportunity to admit his attraction to Rebecca (which he has always felt, but never acted on), when he serves as Rebecca's plus one at her sister's wedding.

Six weeks after a one-night stand, they receive an unexpected surprise. Will Jackson show Rebecca and his child that he is capable of being the man and father they deserve?

Thank you Phoebe Mills, @HachetteBookGroup and @ReadForeverPub for my complimentary copy of this beautiful book.

This is a great addition to The Sunshine Corner series! It’s heart-warming and charming, and Rebecca and Jackson are such fantastic characters. Rebecca is so easy to relate to. She’s a hard-working mom who is very organized and structured. Her best friend, Jackson, is the total opposite. Where she likes routine, Jackson is more free-spirited and carefree. It’s interesting to see how they face having a baby together, especially considering their differing outlooks on life and their hidden feelings for each other.

Jackson and Rebecca have a wonderful friends-to-lovers, opposites-attract romance. They’ve been best friends since they were young, and they’ve loved each other for a long time (though the other doesn’t know it). They have so much history, and you can tell they have a strong bond from the beginning of the story. I like how their relationship changes and grows as they both face their new reality and fight for what they want their future to look like. They have some wonderful conversations, and their time together is always filled with a bit of angst and a bunch of chemistry.

I think you could read this book as a standalone, even though it’s the third book in the series. However, the characters from the first two books are in this book too, since all of the stories take place in Heart’s Hope Bay. I always enjoy revisiting charming, small towns and finding out how the couples from the previous books are doing. Be prepared for some baby conversations because Rebecca isn’t the only one with baby news!

I found Phoebe Mills books last year and fell in love with her small town romance books. However, this is book three and I have not seen a lot of growth with her writing. We have a bigger cast but there are alot of jumps in the book. The chapters towards the front of the book are longer than at the beginning then it changes and the chapters are short and it seems like the ending of the book is rushed.

I wanted to love this book however I felt like this story is everything I dislike in books, Surprise pregnancy, grumpy and sunshine, and second chance romance.

Starting Over In Sunshine Corner is the third book in the Sunshine Cove series, and like the two previous books, this one can also be read as a stand alone.

Becca is a single mom, fierce protector ntonher family and friends, and she always has to have a plan. Her life growing up was really, growing up too fast. Her mother passed away and her dad basically turned into a mean drunk. It forced her brother and Becca to basically run the house. So Becca always felt the need to avoid surprises and always, ALWAYS have a plan.

That is until on a trip to a cousin's wedding in which she has asked her friend Jackson to drive her and her daughter there and to be her plus 1. The trip turns into more than just being her date and for a woman who doesn't like surprises, she is in store for a BIG ONE! 🩵

I loved this book, in fact I have loved this whole series. It's fun, sweet, loving and beautiful! 4⭐

Thank you to NetGalley, Forever Books,.and Phoebe Mills for the eARC/ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the third book in the sunshine cove series, but it could easily be read as a stand alone. In this story we get to know Becca a steadfast single mom, and Jackson a fun loving surfing guy. Becca and Jackson are total opposites who have been best friends for years. Becca thrives on routine and structure and dependability, while Jackson is more of a spontaneous fun loving take risks kind of guy. I loved how supportive Jackson was, and how hard he worked to try to grow up to be the man that others in his life needed him to be. This was such a great story, and once I started it I didn’t want to put it down. I love all the side characters in this quirky town, especially Hilde, and I enjoyed getting to revisit many favorites from the first two books in the series. Another great book from Phoebe Mills, and hopefully not the last one in this series! I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

This is the third in the Sunshine Corner series and I’ve read and liked the previous two. The series focuses on a family and friends in the small town of Heart’s Hope Bay on the Oregon coast. This can be read as a stand alone but I would read in order to avoid surprises. All the previous couples make appearances and the current MC’s are siblings of previous main characters.

Rebecca Hayes is raising her four year old daughter on her own and enjoys her stable career at job at a credit union. She hasn’t dated since having her daughter and thinks it is time to dust off her lady parts. Besides her girlfriends her best friend is Jackson Lowe. They’ve known each other their whole lives. He’s 31, a free spirit who works for his fathers landscape business and lives to surf and play. Jackson takes Becca to a wedding out of town and one night together turns into a pregnancy. (Disclosed on blurb not a spoiler.)

He is all in for their friendship’s sake but rather clueless about what his support can and will look like. Security and stability are very important to Becca as she grew up with an alcoholic father. They aren’t opposites, but she needs to see him as someone she reliable. The friends and sibling connections are a lot in this book. But I instantly remembered the previous couples and am happy for their progress.

One trigger concern I’ve had about the whole series is the focus is very much on babies. One characters grandmother is considered the baby whisperer and she tells women they are pregnant before they may know themselves. I don’t know of another series I’ve read where babies are so much the focus. So if that topic is in anyway a trigger for you, this may not be your series.

This is for readers who enjoy closed door romances with very little cursing. There is little steam factor beyond kissing and some ogling. Both characters POV is reflected, which is helpful. I find it funny that I happened to read two accidental pregnancy books almost back to back . It isn’t a trope I read more than a few times a year. I recommend this series and like both Jackson and Becca.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a such a sweet, heartwarming series and I was so happy to revisit the occupants on Sunshine Corner.
.
This time it’s Becca’s turn for love. She’s a single mom of a sweet four year old who has great friends and an even better best friend in Jackson. She’s always had a crush on him but never wanted to risk their friendship until one night they decide to cross the line just once. Just once somehow ends up in a pregnancy and everything changes
.
I loved seeing these two best friends from high school develop into something more. This was a story that simply made me smile.

Starting Over on Sunshine Corner
by Phoebe Mills is a sweet small town friends to lovers romance.

Rebecca and Jackson have been best friends since they were young. Rebecca is a single mom of a toddler and Jackson is a laid back fun surfer guy. When he goes as her plus one to her sister's wedding and talks about getting back onto the dating scene, he realizes now might be his chance to admit to the attraction he's always felt but never acted on. The night is a success and 6 weeks later they get an unplanned surprise. Now Jackson has to prove he can step up and be the man and father Rebecca and his child deserves.

This was a cute, easy read. I liked our main characters, but didn't love them. I found that they both had aspects of their personalities that I found off-putting. I love single parents romances so my favorite parts were the times spent between Jackson and Rebecca's daughter. There is a whole lot of pregnant woman in this one, and the amount of new mom/baby advice was slightly exhausting. The romance between Jackson and Rebecca themselves is relatively low steam, with a few off page intimate scenes and very little on page build up beforehand.

Overall Starting Over on Sunshine Corner by Phoebe Mills was a cute small town friends to lovers romance with a pregnancy surprise, surfing, family BBQs, and parental advice.

Starting Over on Sunshine Corner gives us another set of characters that we’ve met in previous books in the series. Rebecca Hayes is a single mother, focusing on her daughter and her career. Dating is the last thing on her mind. Her close friend, Jackson, is the only man that she’s been out with, and after one memorable night, she finds herself pregnant. Now it’s up to Jackson to make his dreams of a future with Rebecca a reality and prove to her that he’s the man that she wants and needs in her life.

This is the third book in the Sunshine Corner series, but this could easily be read as a standalone if you don’t mind getting glimpses at the futures of the characters from the previous books. The unexpected pregnancy trope is one that I don’t usually read, but Phoebe Mills handles it beautifully in the development of the romantic relationship between two good friends. I loved the relationship as it progresses over the course of the book, and I enjoyed seeing the supporting characters from previous books pop up and play a part in this romance.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Starting Over on Sunshine Corner by Phoebe Mills is the third installment in the Sunshine Corner series. However it can be read on its on. I wanted to love this book however I just could not get past the fact that through almost the whole book Jackson's father treated Jackson like a young child instead of an adult, and Becca also second guessing him and treating him like a child. This was a major turn off for me. Usually I love friends-to-lovers / opposites-attract romance .

I just want to say Thank you to author, publisher, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this story . I truly appreciate it.

Phoebe Mills always impresses me, and this book was no exception! Each story in the Sunshine Corner world draws me in more and more. I loved reading about Becca, her strength is so admirable and I very much relate to her with her need for order, organization, and planning. But sometimes, as this story shoes, the best things in life are completely spontaneous. Thank you to the publisher for sending me this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. Phoebe Mills is an auto-buy author for me and I recommendation anyone read this story, and the other two books that are so far released in the Sunshine Corner series!

I received this book for free, this does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

But Becca Hayes had never given him one single inkling that she thought of him as anything other than a pal.

Third in the Sunshine Corner series, Starting Over on Sunshine Corner, has Becca and Jackson finally acting on their mutual liking. Both a sister and brother to past leads in the series, you could start here first as you'd mostly miss out on how other couples that make appearances got together, the relationships and friendships are explained well enough here. This series is a small-town romance and one character, humorously and poking a little fun, admits it's starting to feel incestuous with all the siblings of other siblings hooking up. If you enjoy that cozy atmosphere though, looking for more of a tone of this: The idea that their baby grew inside her didn't give him a hard-on; it gave him a heart-on., and enjoy mommy and baby talk, this surrounds you in that atmosphere.

“Don't forget, I know every single thing about you, Jackson Lowe.”
But here's the thing. She didn't.
For example, as smart as she was, she had never ever gotten a clue that he'd harbored a secret crush on her in high school.

This started off with the reader knowing that both Jackson and Becca have had a crush on each other since highschool. They've just remained friends because, as the younger son in his family and a little bit of a black sheep because of his take life as it comes, fun loving attitude, he struggles with not feeling good enough and Becca is a single mom who doesn't think Jackson sees her that way. When Jackson goes with Becca to a wedding as her platonic date, Becca's in the mind to put herself out there again with dating and after a fun night together, they end up sleeping together. They both agree that it was a one-night thing but when Becca ends up pregnant, they used a condom but we all know condoms and their effectiveness in romance, things obviously shift (there was not even a fleeting thought of abortion). This was a completely shut door romance. I'll admit I was a little disappointed that the chapter ended with them kissing and heading up to Jackson's hotel room only to have the next chapter immediately weeks later with Becca feeling queasy.

It was a horrible idea to risk screwing up their friendship for a fling.

The whole plot of the story was Jackson's dad trying to push him to be more responsible in the way he understood being a good provider to be and Jackson wanting to push back and retain some joy in living his life the way he wanted while Becca also had to learn to trust Jackson's ability to step-up and be a good dad. Becca grew-up with an alcoholic father and her first baby daddy lives in England and only sees their four year old daughter once a year, so the bulk of responsibility has always been on her. It got a little slow for me in the middle as the constant questioning if Jackson could be responsible was hashed and rehashed over and over. Mommy and baby talk fill in a good chunk of story, too. I'm the one at the office who always says they just got over a cold to avoid having to hold the baby, so more baby loving people would definitely like this more than I. Past heroines are either pregnant or dealing with newborns and all the issues with that were discussed.

The thought both thrilled and terrified him. What if he wasn't enough for her? What if he couldn't be the man she deserved?
But what if he could?

The early second half had Becca and Jackson admitting their crushes and tentatively giving their relationship a go. Becca's worries about Jackson being responsible enough come to ahead late (94%) to give us that third act breakup but, obviously, with how much is left, they get resolved quickly. This had realizing that not everyone has to live their life the same way, oodles of mommy/baby talk, friends-to-lovers, and learning to trust.

I have been thoroughly enjoying the stories surrounding this close-knit group of friends (and family) in Phoebe Mills' Sunshine Corner series. This time it's Becca and Jackson in the spotlight, in a friends-to-lovers / opposites-attract romance with a few surprises along the way.

I love how Mills doesn't shy away from tossing her characters into the deep end of emotional upheaval while still maintaining an upbeat vibe in her books. There's emotional depth but also plenty of humor, especially when friends and families get together. I don't know if Mills is from a large family but she sure gets the sibling dynamic.

Both Jackson and Becca are dealing with family issues while also exploring building a relationship different from what they've had as best friends since high school. For Jackson, he's struggling to figure out what he wants career wise. His father is pressuring him to take over the family company but Jackson knows he'd wither on the vine if forced into an office job when his passion is surfing. But he also knows that Becca needs the stability of a sure thing. And then there's the fact that, as the youngest son, everyone still treats him like he's a goof-off who lacks ambition. Not so. I love how much he has always (secretly) loved Becca, how well he understands her, and how hard he works to be the best possible partner and provider, in every way.

Becca's chaotic and abusive childhood has had a lasting impact on her as an adult. Jackson has always been her best friend but she's never felt inclined to change that status, even now when she's pregnant from their one night stand. Truth is, she doesn't handle change of any kind well and that includes emotional closeness. I appreciate how the author moves her relationship with Jackson forward at a slow pace, giving her the time she needs to figure things out. The progression of her feelings and their relationship as a couple are portrayed realistically, given her hang ups. By the time I reached the end of the book (loved that epilogue!), I was confident in their love and future happiness.

This is the third book in Mills' Sunshine Corner series. It stands well on its own but readers should be aware that the community of characters from the first two books are also prominently featured in this one, with one heroine in particular struggling with new motherhood. I love following the relationships of previous couples but if you'd rather not meet them for the first time post-HEA, you may want to begin with book one, The House on Sunshine Corner then follow that with A Wedding on Sunshine Corner.

Starting Over on Sunshine Corner is the newest book in Phoebe Mills The Sunshine Corner series. These are companion novels that you can read apart from each other.

This story follows Jackson and Becca, who have been best friends forever, and although they have, at different times, had feelings for each other, never acted on those feelings… until one night. Becca discovers that she is pregnant after one night, but she isn't sure she can count on Jackson. Jackson is a great guy, but he is the fun guy, the guy without responsibilities. What Becca doesn't know is that Jackson has always wanted to build a life and family with Becca. Now that Becca is pregnant, he finds himself wanting to prove that he is the one that Becca needs and worthy of her love.

Though Jackson and Becca are best friends, they are truly opposites. Becca thrives on routine and dependability, whereas Jackson seems to go by the seat of his pants and believes that everything will work out. I thought they really did well to play off of each other's differences and it really showed how opposites could really attract. Jackson was truly the guy we wanted when pregnant. He was understanding, kind and helped around the house. He was so wonderful with Becca's daughter (from a previous relationship) and really took responsibility in the situation.

This was a touching romance, that was sexy, but closed door. The characters from previous books make appearances and it is nice to continue seeing these characters grow and develop. The characters are likeable and I enjoyed reading from both their pespectives.

This book, like the previous in this series, has a lot of focus on babies and children. If this is not something you enjoy in your romances, you should probably skip these books. I also thought this book would have done well with some divisions of time. I found that some chapters had multiple weeks (and sometimes months) pass and it took me some time to actually figure out where we were at.

I thought this books was a quick, light, easy read. If you are a fan of babies, a swoony man and closed door romances, this is the book (and series) for you. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever publishing for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Single mother Rebecca has a one night fling with her best friend, Jackson, and the result is an unexpected pregnancy. Jackson has a reputation in town for being an irresponsible guy so he feels he has a lot to prove to himself, his father, and Rebecca. This is the third Sunshine Cove so the various friends and couples from the other books make appearances at their various states of their own pregnancies.

I need everyone in this town to stop being so baby crazed. It’s like a disease among this group of friends. I am the same age as Rebecca and even with my friends who want / have children, kids are not discussed as much as this group of people seem to do. I was really bothered that none of the practicalities of Rebecca having a second child outside of a relationship was never addressed. There was never even a hint at abortion being an option. There was no discussion of how she could afford another child. Young millennials (again, Rebecca and I are the same age) don’t bring children into the world without thinking things through. I’ll step off my soap box now.

I liked the relationship between Rebecca and Jackson in theory. I love friends to lovers stories where they have both been crushing on each other but neither want to make the first move. Having read the previous books I knew their story was coming and had been waiting for it, but it fell completely flat. There was zero heat or tension. You can have a fade to black story, but I should at least feel like the two are in love with one another. The baby plot line took over everything. I wanted the morning after their one night. I wanted to watch them navigate the awkwardness of their relationship changing beyond the baby storyline. In short I just wanted more.

Starting Over on Sunshine Corner is the third book in The Sunshine Corner series, but it can easily be read as a standalone.

Becca Hayes is the mother of a four year old little girl and she works full-time at a credit union. She hasn't dated since having her daughter and she's starting to think it's time to get herself back on the horse so to speak.

Jackson Lowe works for his family's landscaping business, but in his early thirties, he still hasn't really found what he wants to do with his life. He loves to surf, spend time with his friends and game. He's the quintessential free spirt.

Becca and Jackson have been best friends for years and when they attend a wedding together, they spend one steamy night together and it results in an unexpected pregnancy. With this new news, Becca is all about creating and maintaining security and stability, while Jackson is trying to figure out what it all means. By all means, he's all in supporting Becca however she needs, but can these two be what one another needs and not just for the sake of their unborn child?

We also get a glimpse into where the couples from the previous books are given their interactions with Becca and Jackson in this one, which is nice. It's always fun to see where former couples are now. I enjoyed this one and look forward to any books that Phoebe Mills has coming in the future.

This is book 3 in The Sunshine Corner Series, but can be read as a standalone. Becca Hayes is a single mother with a full time job in finance. Her daughter's father chose to move home instead of sticking around. Although he supports Sofia, Becca relies on herself to make a life and a home for them. She has her friends whom we've met in books 1 and 2 as well as Jackson Lowe her best friend. Once upon a time they both had feelings for each other but taking the risk to try out something more was too great. Except for that one night after her cousin's wedding. Birth control isn't 100% effective. It pained me to read how Jackson's father treated him as a lackadaisical, no responsibility son. Jackson has always marched to the beat of his own drum. He liked working on the landscaping crew and hanging out with them after work, but Daddy Lowe thought otherwise. Jackson's happy-go-lucky personality gave Becca pause, but she did not come without her own daddy issues. I'll let you discover for yourself how they get their HEA.

This characters featured in this book round out the cast of characters in the series. We get to visit with the previously featured characters, learn a little more about their lives and how they've fared, and experience their interactions with each other. Reading this book and this series is like getting a breath of fresh air!

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Rebecca is a single mother who is really focused on her child and keeping her life as stable as possible that she really doesn't have time to date. When she spends one night with her best friend Jackson, were there is no strings attached it came with unexpected consequences where now she's pregnant. Jackson is it's a very free guy who isn't interested in being tied down he just wants to surf his days away but his father landscaping business is really trying to settle him down. Now with the new of a baby on the way he's got a lot of decisions to make about the future he didn't care to plan for.

So this is a pretty slow read for me. I really enjoyed it though. I liked getting to know the characters from their perspectives and seeing how this news was really going to impact their lives. I mean Jackson just wants to do his job and surf and enjoy himself he really wasn't thinking much for the future and very much into the now. Rebecca is a responsible mother doing every everything she can to care for her daughter and virtually the opposite of Jackson. But now that they have this baby on the way decisions must be made and Rebecca is already going through the single mother this without the others help and now she's going to have another with a guy who doesn't seem to want to settle down naturally she's concerned about the future. It was interesting seeing how this book played out though and how they worked through what life handed them. Pretty good book I enjoyed it.

“…when he looks at you? It’s as if he’s just found the end of the rainbow.”

Jackson and Becca have been friends since high school and claim to have never considered the other romantically. After a night out leads to a one night stand, Becca ends up pregnant. As a single mom to sweet Sofia, organized and type A Becca isn’t sure that surfing Jackson has the right personality to step up and do what’s needed. After years of being teased for his go-with-the-flow attitude, Jackson isn’t sure he’s enough for Becca, either.

“It was as if her heart was expanding to let more love inside, while her brain was shrinking.” - Motherhood in a nutshell

This was a sweet story with closed door only romance. Becca and Jackson complimented each other so well. And Sofia was a cutie! I also enjoyed all of the friendships and found family that supported them both. As a heads up, there was a lot of discussion surrounding pregnancy, breastfeeding, post-partum experiences, etc., as there are a lot of pregnancies in their friend group in this book. It’s third in a series, and could be read as a standalone; reading the previous two books would help in knowing more about all the characters!

Thank you Forever Publishing (Grand Central) for the advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

Rebecca Hayes, a single mom of an almost 5 year old has found herself date-free for far too long and in need of one for a wedding so she ends up going with her best friend since high school, Jackson Lowe. Jackson is a single, fun-loving "playboy" who doesn't seem to have any goals (if you ask anyone who knows him). Somehow their friendship just works.

And for one night the two of them connect far more deeply. . . and Becca ends up pregnant, again. How will this work? Will Jackson step up and be the father her child deserves? Though Becca has had a crush on him since high school she has no illusions of love with Jackson, despite that one sexy night where their connection was amazing. She will be single and have 2 children to raise and she needs to be ready for that.

Jackson is not ready for a child, or is he? Can he be the man that Becca needs him to be, the father his child needs him to be? Can Jackson grow up and get serious?

Phoebe Mills has once again written a stand out, touching, gorgeous, sexy romance novel with a beautiful storyline. Her characters from this world have continued to grow and develop and the world is growing beautifully. Go read this newest Phoebe Mills novel. Its stunning!

Becca us a single mom to a great 4 year old girl, Sofia, who is living in Sunshine Corner and who is creating her career in finance.

Becca wedding to go to and decides to ask her best friend, Jackson. Jackson is a surfer who works for his dad and he is the most laid back kind of guy. He’s still a big kid at heart and doesn’t really care to work for his father’s business.

Since getting Jackson to be her date, Becca decides to start getting back into the dating scene, but she’s not all that confident since it’s been awhile. She tells Jackson that she needs to practice on him, to which he agrees with. During this wedding, one thing leads to another and a few weeks later, Becca finds out that she is pregnant from the only time she’s had sex since Sofia.

How will this baby change everything? Will Becca be ready for baby #2? Will she let Jackson be part of the baby’s life? How will Sofia handle the news? Will Jackson finally settle down and work for his dad’s business so that there is a stable income?

Since I’m a designer, I can’t say I was the hugest fan of the cover, but I’m sure glad I read this book because it was really good! The characters are all very likeable and the book flowed really well.

Dating is about the furthest thing from single mom Rebecca Hayes's mind, most of her time is spent on her daughter and growing career. It's been so long since she's dated that she isn't even sure how one is supposed to go. The closest she has come to dating in the last few years is going out with her close friend Jackson, but that wasn't really a date, more of two friends hanging out for a night.

But one night the comfort of a friend leads to something else, something that crosses the line of their "just friends" relationship... and leads to two pink lines. Now these friends must decide if their friendship can handle this next, very important, step...

The pages of Starting Over on Sunshine Corner follows the friends-to-more relationship of Jackson and Rebecca, and these two have quite the heartwarming and emotional story to tell. For a long time Jackson has maintained that being a family man wasn't a life he saw himself having, but when two little pink lines change everything between him and Rebecca he decides that maybe he was meant for it after all. But not without a few bumps, unexpected nerves, and hesitation to be dealt with first. These two warmed up the pages with their sizzling chemistry and touched my heart with their genuine care for one another. I really enjoyed this newest offering in the The Sunshine Corner series, it's well penned words took me on quite the entertaining literary escape! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

This ended up not being the right book for me, but I’m still sharing it because I’m sure it will be the right one for someone else! I read Phoebe Mills previous book, A Wedding on Sunshine Corner, and enjoyed it. However, this one felt different— a bit more on the safe and wholesome side. It is very much a closed door romance, ending with the couple walking to their room together and cutting straight to the FMC feeling morning sickness. That wouldn’t have been a dealbreaker, but a lot of the phrases used (ex. “At this rate, dating was already for the birds” and the MCs laughing over “guess what?” “Chicken butt”) made me feel like maybe this book was written by, or geared towards someone much older than me. Maybe something like you would find on the Hallmark channel or a religious TV network? There was also a lot of talk about babies, which I expected given the subject matter, but it ended up being too much for me.

While this book didn’t work for me, I think those that prefer more closed door/wholesome romance may like it. If you also enjoy a single parent romance or unexpected pregnancy trope, then this may be the one for you!

Thank you so much to Forever Pub for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

Starting Over on Sunshine Corner by Phobe Mills is a lighthearted romantic comedy. Her characters went from best friends to lovers. They both have had a crush on each other since high school. Yet, neither one did not want to ruin their friendship. Jackson is painted as this free-spirited surfer who only wants to have fun. However, he just does not have the job he loves doing. His father pressures him constantly. It is a constant jab at how he is not ready to be a man. Then, there is his friend Becca who wants to be more than just a single mother. So, she asks Jackson to be her wingman. Only he does not just want to be a wingman. He wants Becca more than she knows. Then, the unexpected happens. Their lives are forever changed. I loved these two characters. Becca knows what she wants and what needs to be done. She is more focused out of the two but overall, they both are more alike than they know. Jackson proved his worth and proved he is definitely more man than his family and friends thought he was. Overall, I laughed a lot while reading this book. Heartfelt, engaging, and fun Phobe Mill's latest book is a must read for all.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Jackson's dad and his friends think it's time for him to grow up. And Becca's looking to date for the first time since she became a single mom. They have been best friends since high school but never more. Until that one night...

This is a friends-to-lovers romance meets surprise baby (that's not really a surprise because it's in the synopsis and there's a crib on the cover). I loved Jackson so much and wished others could see his great heart better. I found Becca harder to connect with, in part because of her lack of faith in Jackson.

I loved being back in Heart's Hope Bay on the Oregon Coast and seeing all of the couples and friends from the previous books in the series. That is a huge part of why I love series, getting to see after the happily ever after fo previous characters.

But for this book, the pacing was a bit slow. I would have liked to see more character development (not just from Jackson but all of the characters) earlier in the book. When it came, the ending felt rather rushed.

Thank you to Forever for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

Thank you so much to the team @foreverpub for my copy of Book Three in The Sunshine Corner series by Phoebe Mills. Absolutely charming story of second chances, taking risks, love that lasts, family, motherhood, and all that you risk when you open your heart. Loved, loved, loved Jackson. What a fantastic character that portrayed someone who was unsure of himself, but sure of the one he loved and everything that he would give to make it work. Our single mom Rebecca was also so well written, a complex woman, who had to grow up too fast, raising a daughter on her own, and trying to make her way alone. But, as the story unfolds the themes of family, friendship, and small town warm feels shine bright throughout the book. A perfect read for a weekend escape, and a five star HEA.
Grab the other books in the series, you won't be disappointed. #SunshineCorner #PhoebeMills #StartingOverOnSunshineCorner #HEA #smalltownromance #secondchanceromance #singlemom #surfer #bachleornotforlong #longtimelove #family #relationships #booksinaseries

A small town romance with an unexpected pregnancy! This was my first visit to this small town and I was impressed. This is the third in the series, but can be read as a standalone (as I read it).

Becca was definitely a Type A planner. Can anyone else relate to that? She likes having a plan for everything and craves the structure after a tumultuous childhood. Her best friend from childhood, Jackson, is her total opposite as a free spirit and opportunist. When they cross the line from friends to lovers one night, the unexpected happens and now they’re navigating a surprise pregnancy alongside their feelings for one another.

I know that Surprise Pregnancy isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I do like this trope when it is done well and this book does it well. Becca was very relatable and I love her ferocity as a mother. Reading through Becca and Jackson’s story was sweet and fun. This was an emotional small town romance and I’m really glad that I was able to pick it up!
