You are asked to vote - but do you know the parties' digital policies?📅 On June 9th 2024, all EU citizens can cast their vote - and there is a lot at stake for the future of Europe. Before you make a tick for your favorite party, take a moment to think about what they are planning to do concerning those pressing digital policy issues:❓ How can Europe become a leading location for the development of AI?❓Should the General Data Protection Regulation be revised?❓Does the EU budget need to be boosted to promote digital technologies? To check which parties are matching your position in these questions, Bitkom has launched the “Bitkomat”. It is modelled after the “Wahlomat”, that helps to compare all 35 political parties in Germany in a broad range of questions, but conspiciously leaves out all digital policy topics. The Bitkomat checks 18 political questions in 4 categories:✔ Innovation location and industries of the future✔Guiding political principles✔Digital Infrastructure and sustainability✔Startups and Europe’s digital futureFrom the 10 biggest political parties Bitkom has asked, 6 have sent their answers, so now you can compare the positions of CDU/CSU, SPD, Greens, FDP, Free Voters, and AfD. Feel free to browse the 18 questions - of course, Bitkom has made sure not to collect any unnecessary data in programming the Bitkomat. Your answers will not be saved, and there will be no statistics about the results.Give it a go: https://lnkd.in/e_QBYKKz… and then go vote! 🗳

🎉 One of our first customers and partners is celebrating a great achievement: infodas has been around for 50 years now! After a bit of research and calculating, we believe that infodas might really be the oldest IT Security company IN THE WORLD 😲 This means that Germany has an unbelievably long experience in that area! 50 years in the software business is a venerable milestone to celebrate! Kernkonzept has been working with infodas almost from the beginning of our own company founding, for which we were then and still are now grateful and honored.infodas are not only very esteemed customers for us, but also great partners and teachers. In the ever-evolving landscape of IT, staying on track for 50 years proves the pioneering spirit of infodas and their dedication to innovation. From the start of their journey in 1974, when Ethernet and TCP were just laying the groundwork for the digital age, to their current position as a renowned leader in the industry, infodas has shaped the state of cybersecurity in Germany. At Kernkonzept, our collaboration with infodas extends far beyond professional boundaries. Since 2016, we've had the privilege of working closely together, not only exchanging ideas and expertise but also fostering a genuine partnership built on trust and mutual respect. Our teams have enjoyed many fruitful visits, further solidifying our bond and reinforcing our shared commitment to excellence.Together, we've embarked on a journey to develop cutting-edge solutions. Our #opensource L4Re Operating System Framework provides the secure foundation for the SDoT (Secure Domain Transition) product family:➡ SDoT Security Gateway and Security Gateway Express➡ SDoT Labelling Service➡ SDoT Industry Gateway➡ SDoT Diode➡ SDoT SIS & SD➡ SDot Comp_LandTogether, we have developed a secure platform whose separation is just as secure as a physical separation: All necessary applications run on one server while remaining reliably separated. The #L4Re separation kernel, as part of the platform, helps to meet all security requirements of the BSI and ensures that all products in the SDoT product family meet the secrecy approval for the public sector and the KRITIS area. The GERMAN GEHEIM approval for the #SDoT Security Gateway 6 with L4Re inside in 2016 was a milestone we could build upon to get “our own” GEHEIM approval for the L4Re Separation Kernel in early 2024.We look forward to continuing our collaboration with infodas, driving innovation, and making a lasting impact in the world of cybersecurity together.💐 Here's to many more years of success and achievements!#teamkernkonzept #securitysoftware #microkernel

Open-source operating system solutions such as L4Re, which is approved for GERMAN GEHEIM secret level, have been used by Elektrobit in successful automotive solutions like Continental’s MEB ICAS1 for many years. Now, Elektrobit could make another step towards automotive functional safety - with the monolithic operating system #Linux. Utilizing the power of EB corbos Hypervisor, the EB corbos Linux team succeeded in providing a safety-compliant Linux solution.🏅 EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications just received a positive technical assessment feasibility report by TÜV Nord as a safety element out of context (SEooC), complying with the strict ASIL B (ISO 26262) and SIL 2 (IEC 61508) standards. This is a great success, especially for the #microkernel-based EB corbos Hypervisor that is based on the open-source software #L4Re.🚗 Automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers can now use the open-source Linux OS in applications for autonomous vehicles, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and other safety-related functional domains.Enabling Linux programs to implement safety functionality is a major milestone. Now, the automotive industry can utilize a vivid and agile software environment to boost productivity. This is a big step forward for the software-define vehicle (SDV) - a vision Kernkonzept has been working on with Elektrobit for more than 5 years.🎉 Congratulations!(Picture copyright: Elektrobit)

Thank you, Aqib, for sharing your journey with the EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications and crediting our work. Another milestone in our collaboration with Elektrobit and providing L4Re as a safe and secure foundation for the EB corbos Hypervisor (a fundamental part of the EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications) 🎉

📣 These are big news for the automotive industry: Arm has just launched a new suite of its Automotive Enhanced IP on a virtual platform, transforming the whole process of software development.🖥 By creating a virtual development environment and releasing the new processor designs there, Arm enables automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers to start their software development as soon as a new Arm processor generation is released, accelerating this often complex process up to 2 years. With this virtual release, OEMs can use the "digital twin" concepts very early - a major shift-left for software development in the entire production process!🔄 Hardware and software development can now start simultaneously, without having to wait for physical silicon to be available. This opens up a world of benefits for our customers in the automotive industry. With Arm’s virtual platform, automotive system and software development becomes more hardware-independent, flexible, and scalable. There are (at least!) 4 big gains from parallel development processes:1️⃣ significantly faster time-to-market2️⃣ significantly accelerated software development process (by 2 years!) through parallelization of processes3️⃣ faster functional safety certification and4️⃣ better overall quality control. Our open-source #L4Re Hypervisor family already supports various Arm architectures, including the latest state-of-the-art Arm processors. It is also part of the virtual development environment, where it supports the newly launched Automotive Enhanced IP, providing developers with consistent abstraction layers between hardware and software.🚗 Arm is really driving innovation forward in the automotive industry - and we are thrilled to be on board!#onarm #teamkernkonzept #sdv

📅 The bonus day of February 29 is perfect for thinking about extras we often take for granted. Today, we want to give our thanks to a host of largely unknown people... ... because everything we are doing for our customers would not be possible without them.🔎 The simple, but largely unnoticed, truth is: There are many developers and software engineers out there who contribute a big part of their work and free time to maintaining open-source ecosystems. Our own company was founded to develop the open-source software #L4Re: a #microkernel-based operating system framework that grew from years of research of scientists and IT students. But our daily work also relies heavily on other #opensource software tools, in fact almost 100 % of the tools we are using are based on open source.🙏 So today we want to show our gratitude to all the maintainers and contributors without whose contribution we could not do our work.Do you recognize all the open-source projects we are showing in our reel? Add your own thanks for an open-source software you are relying on in the comments!
